It was a very bad forecast today but I do manage to spend a long time outside. My main job is still dead heading and today I'm concentrating on the beautiful cosmos around the beans and I'm also cutting back calendula that is beginning to die back and cutting back rocket that is too rampant! Another reason for endless deadheading, apart from keeping up the display of flowers, is to keep as many blooms as possible available for the bees. Patrick continues working on the mushroom house and by the end of the day we are soaked through! The leaves on the pumpkin patch are dying back to reveal a splendid crop of pumpkins and squash. Plenty of pumpkins for a good halloween display and some truly magnificent butternut squash, some of the biggest I've seen!
