Patrick has carried on cutting the Box hedges yesterday and today after work. Yesterday he was working on the section that is particularly affected by caterpillars and had a bit of a panic..."How did all these caterpillars get here?" he asked me, I'm a little more philosophical about the situation now having spent so many hours removing the horrible things. I have largely stopped hand removal over the last few days because I knew the hedge was being cut - this removes quite a lot of them and then it will be sprayed. Also quite a lot of them are now in cocoons and the traps are in place and quite frankly the Open Day is almost upon us and I have so many things to do apart from caterpillar removal! I start planting cabbages and then Janet (James' mum and queen of catering) arrived with 2 boxes of clotted cream which thankfully fitted in the fridge!
