After music school today, I went outside to do the watering. I know rain is forecasted tomorrow but the weather is still beautifully sunny and the ground is very dry. I decide to tidy up the sweetcorn beds which look like they have been trampled on by marauding hordes! I had left them in that state for our last visiting groups on Wednesday, because I thought our visitors might be interested to see what badgers do and also to see what we have to contend with. I do believe in showing a 'warts and all' picture of our life here - it is not always the 'Good Life'! Tonight I bake a large piece of salmon with trusses of miniature red tomatoes - cooking with their stalks intact really adds to the flavour - loads of basil and garlic chives, olive oil and lemon juice, accompanied by fried potatoes, cooked beetroot and courgettes in butter and garlic. I make an apple and blackberry crumble which could mark the end of the blackberry harvest, what a shame!
